Andy Coombe

Connecting people with purpose

Andy is a facilitator and leadership developer. He partners with individuals and groups to understand their purpose and to lead themselves and others to make it happen. Andy sparks individuals and groups to think and act to bring life, hope and success to professional and personal life.

Most change programmes – around three quarters, according to the research – fail to achieve their aims. They may as well have not bothered. So unless you know why what you’re doing is going to put you in the twenty-five percent that succeed, bare statistics tell you you should assume your change will fail too.

Working with all the evidence about what makes change stick, and utilising highly developed interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills, Andy partners with each of his clients to enable them to realise their change ambitions, sustainably. Andy is equally comfortable working with people at all levels of the organisation, quickly building rapport.

He has extensive operational and change advisory experience in the UK health sector, working with boards as both a director of an acute hospital trust and in an NHS service and organisation change agency.

For the last nine years Andy has operated through Kairos Consultancy, focusing on change leadership, group and team facilitation, leadership development, coaching and organisational development. He is also engaged in mediation and 360° feedback facilitation.

Approach

Most change programmes – around three quarters, according to the research – fail to achieve their aims. They may have well as not bothered. So unless you know why what you’re doing is going to put you in the twenty-five percent that succeed, bare statistics tell you you should assume your change will fail too.

Working with all the evidence about what makes change stick, and utilising highly developed interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills, Andy works with each of his clients to enable them to realise their change ambitions, sustainably. Andy is equally comfortable working with people at all levels of the organisation, quickly building rapport.

Andy helps people to fully understand and communicate clearly what they are seeking to achieve, for themselves, their teams and their organisations. He helps them develop an evidence-based approach to see the change happen, improving both performance and personal satisfaction.

That’s why one client described him as ‘the best consultant I’ve ever worked with’, another as ‘the only consultant who actually made a lasting difference’, and why colleagues have described him as ‘a brilliant facilitator’.

Key Strengths

Andy has a deep knowledge and skill base in leadership development, organisational development and coaching, developed as a practitioner and consultant.

Andy is an experienced facilitator, developer and consultant at executive level and beyond and is highly skilled in individual and team development and leadership.

Testimonials

“I am pleased to recommend Andy Coombe who worked for me on a consultancy basis at Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust during a period of major change that resulted in the development of a new concept in the provision of HR services to a high profile health organisation. Andy also facilitated the top executive team, including the Chief Executive, while they reviewed and planned their tactical position in the face of a pending merger. He is a very strong facilitator in all group and multi-disciplinary settings. He works particularly effectively when engaging with top table executives. He has also acted as a personal executive coach to me in which role I have found him to be particularly effective.”

Ian Young

Executive in Residence and Senior HR Adviser, TVM Shared Services

“Andy has undertaken all projects in an innovative, thorough and highly professional way, bringing them in on time and within budget.  Feedback from participants on the way he led those events has uniformly been very positive, in terms of how he has encouraged participation, brought out a wide range of views, constructively managed some quite difficult plenary sessions and generally produced enjoyable events. I would have absolutely no hesitation in employing Andy again.”
